Funtastic Island Renovation Project 8/16/21
Owasso’s Recreation and Culture Department has some exciting news to announce! Funtastic Island Playground, located at the northern portion of the sports park off 116th Street, is undergoing a complete renovation. The new park will include:
- Brand new playground features
- Rubberized ground surface
- Synthetic turf
- Shade structures
- An interactive splash pad
- An expanded parking lot
Funtastic Island is a very popular recreation destination for our community; however, after sixteen (16) years of use, it is time to renew and develop the space with an updated, modern, and innovative play area for kids and families.
As we renovate and develop for the future, park closure for construction is necessary for achieving this development. Funtastic Island will be closed starting Monday, August 16, 2021, until February 11, 2022. We understand the disappointment and frustration facility downtime can create, but we feel confident that the renovation results will be worth the wait.
We will continue to update our progress as available, or you may call the Recreation and Culture Department with specific questions at 918-376-1529.
Thank you for your cooperation and patience.
