Registration Fees and Penalties

Annual Registration Fees

  • Annual registration for residential alarm locations will be $30
  • Annual registration for business alarm locations will be $100

Although you may register as of October 1, 2017, there will be no enforcement of Failure to Register or False Alarm fees until December 1, 2017.

After that date, if police respond to an intrusion or hold-up/panic alarm at an alarm site that has not been registered, the alarm user will be charged a failure to register fee.

Failure to Register Fees

  • Failure to register fee for residential alarms will be $60
  • Failure to register fee for business alarms will be $200

False Alarm Fees

Registered alarm sites will be allowed a number of free false alarm responses during the registration year depending on the type of location. Unregistered alarm locations will be allowed no free false alarm responses.

  • Registered residential alarm sites will be allowed 2 free false alarms per registration year.
  • Registered business alarm sites will be allowed 3 free false alarms per registration year.

The False alarm response fee will depend upon the type of location, the type of alarm and the number of false alarms at that location.

Registered Residential False Alarm Fees
Number of Responses Intrusion Alarm or Hold-up/Panic Alarm

  • 1 to 2 = $0 (Unregistered residences will pay $50 / $100 for their first two false alarms)
  • 3 to 5 = $50 / $100
  • 6 to 7 = $100 / $200
  • 8 plus Alarms = $150 / $300

Registered Business False Alarm Fees
Number of Responses Intrusion Alarm or Hold-up/Panic Alarm

  • 1 to 3 = $0 (Unregistered businesses will pay $100 / $200 for their first three false alarms)
  • 4 to 5 = $100 / $200
  • 6 to 7 = $200 / $400
  • 8 plus Alarms = $300 / $600

Registered alarm users will have access to an appeals process to dispute false alarm fees if the alarm response was the result of a genuine alarm.
