Drug Uses
Crestor is used to control the level of cholesterol and blood pressure in patients with primary hyperlipidemia or mixed dyslipidemia. This product is only effective when used along with certain diet.
How Taken
Crestor comes in pills to be taken by mouth with or without food. Usual dose is 10mg - 40mg once a day.
Additional Information
You may need a dose adjustment or special monitoring during treatment or you may not be able to take this drug at all if you have kidney or liver infection or if you have gastrointestinal problems. This product interact with the following products- phenytoin (Dilantin); tamoxifen (Nolvadex); tolbutamide (Orinase); torsemide (Demadex); fluvastatin (Lescol); a blood thinner such as warfarin (Coumadin), heparin, ardeparin (Normiflo), dalteparin (Fragmin), danaparoid (Orgaran), enoxaparin (Lovenox), or tinzaparin (Innohep); (Activase), anistreplase (Eminase), dipyridamole (Persantine), streptokinase (Kabikinase, Streptase), ticlopidine (Ticlid), and urokinase (Abbokinase). Patients taking the above mentioned pills should notify a physician concerning the dosage and possibility of Crestor usage.
