CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER
Department:
Community Development
Salary:
$13.37 - $15.00 depending upon qualifications and experience
Job Summary:
Responsible for investigating and resolving inquiries, requests, and/or complaints related to nuisance violations under the provisions of the Owasso Municipal Code. The incumbent is a civilian employee empowered to issue notices of violation, and seek resolution of the problem through administrative processes.
Minimum Qualifications &/or Experience:
- High School Diploma
- Valid Drivers’ License with good driving record
- Code enforcement certification from Oklahoma Code Enforcement Association within one year of employment
- Knowledge of Word and Excel

COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER/JAILER
Department:
Police
Salary:
$12.00-13.50 depending on qualifications and experience
Job Summary:
Under general supervision of the Dispatch Supervisor, receives requests
for police, fire, and emergency medical assistance from the public. Dispatches
and/or relays calls for service to the appropriate police, fire, and emergency
medical agencies or units. Assists emergency service agencies by
collecting, retrieving, and disseminating information vital to operations.
Acts as a jailer providing supervision, meals and phone calls for
prisoners. Requires ability to work both day and night shifts in
increments of 8-12 hours. May include working holidays.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Valid Oklahoma drivers’ license
- Computer experience preferred
- Must be able to type at least 45 words per minute
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check
Preferred certifications or the ability to obtain within the first
year of employment:
- OLETS certification
- Oklahoma State Jailer Certification
- CPR Certification
- First Aid Certification
- APCO certification
- EMD certification

ENGINEERING PROJECT MANAGER
Department:
Public Works, Engineering Division
Salary:
$65,000 to $80,000 depending on qualifications and experience
Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Public Works Director, supervises the activities of the Engineering Division personnel and performs complex analytical work in providing office and engineering support and field engineering support for environmental, water, sewer, street, and other Public Works projects and programs, ensuring technical competence and compliance with all current codes and criteria.
Minimum Qualifications &/or Experience:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
- Professional Engineer Registration required
- A minimum of five (5) years experience is required, preferably including experience in the design and/or construction of water distribution, wastewater collection, streets/roadways or storm water systems.
- Experience in project management desirable.
- A valid driver’s license.

PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR

Public Works Administration
Salary:
$62,775 - $83,175 depending upon qualifications and experience.
Job Summary:
Plans, organizes, directs, and coordinates the activities of the Public Works Department consisting of the following divisions: Streets, Storm water/Right-of-way Maintenance, Water Distribution, Wastewater Treatment Plant, Wastewater Collections, Residential Refuse, Recycle Center, Engineering/Plan Review, and Public Works Administration. Responsible for determining departmental policies, for planning long-term programs, and for managing the departmental budget. Operates from general directives and/or broadly defined missions as they relate to Departmental goals and objectives; creates and implements policies governing departmental function, and assists in policy decisions that may have citywide impact.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university, Masters of Science in Civil Engineering or related field preferred. P.E. certification a plus.
- Five years increasingly responsible experience in a broad range of municipal services including engineering/architectural design or operations, refuse system operations, water/wastewater and/or street maintenance.
- Oklahoma Class “A” license as Wastewater Operator and Oklahoma Class “A” license as Water Operator or ability to obtain.
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

SEASONAL SANITATION WORKER

Job Summary:

UTILITIES SUPERINTENDANT
Department:
Public Works
Salary:
$44,252 - $58,635 depending on qualifications and experience
Job Summary:
Under general direction of Assistant Public Works Director, a working superintendent that performs a variety of routine and semi-complex administrative, supervisory and technical tasks in the planning, construction and maintenance of city water distribution, wastewater collection infrastructure and wastewater treatment control facility.
Job Requirements:
- A high school graduate or GED equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license with “Class A” commercial certification or ability to obtain. In addition, a person working in the classification must have current ODEQ “Class B” water and “Class A” wastewater operator certifications or ability to obtain within 6-months.
- Five (5) years progressively responsible experience in the maintenance and construction of water distribution and wastewater collection infrastructure and wastewater treatment processes; at least three years of which in a supervisory capacity.

WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT SUPERVISOR

Job Summary:
Coordinates, supervises, and reviews the activities relating to the operations and maintenance of the City of Owasso wastewater treatment facilities, monitors projects, provides technical expertise, and responds to after hour problems and emergencies. On-call status on a rotation basis.
Minimum Qualifications:
Certification:
- Possession of an Oklahoma Class A wastewater works operator certification required
- Possession of an Oklahoma Class B wastewater laboratory certification required
Experience:
- Five (5) years of increasingly responsible supervisory experience in wastewater treatment operation and maintenance. A minimum of three (3) years experience must be at the Class A level.
Education:
- An Associate’s degree in biology, chemistry, engineering, or a related field is highly desirable.
Driver’s License:
- Possession of a valid Oklahoma Class D Drivers’ License at the time of appointment. Ability to obtain Class B Driver’s License within 6 months of appointment.
Respiratory Protective Equipment:
- Must be respirator/self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) certifiable
