The application needs to be completed and submitted to the Community Development Department. A plot plan of the proposed project is required along with the building plans. A residential permit takes 3 to 5 working days to process; a commercial permit takes 10 to 15 days to process. Three sets of construction plans are required for review of a commercial building permit. One set of house plans is required for a residential permit. Fees for a building permit vary as to the type of construction, the square footage of the building and the inspections required. The City Planner and the City Building Inspector review the permit to ensure completion and zoning compliance.

Sign Permits

Instructions:

From filing to final approval, sign permit applications typically take up to one (1) week. The City Planner assigned to your application will be your main contact person throughout the process. Feel free to call whenever you have questions or concerns.

Application Review:

Sign permit applications may be submitted at any time during the month. It is recommended that prior to submitting an application, you call or schedule a pre-application meeting with the City Planner. DO NOT CONSTRUCT, ERECT OR ALTER ANY SIGN PRIOR TO MAKING APPLICATION WITH THE CITY OF OWASSO. Constructing, erecting or altering a sign prior to receiving City approval may result in a loss of investment on the part of the applicant. Materials that need to be submitted at the time of application are listed below.

    1. Filing fee (see schedule of fees above);
    2. Completed application form;
    3. Survey, site plan or drawing showing the proposed signs, their location, & direction
    4. Construction plans.

Appeals from City Planner and/or Building Inspector Decisions:

If an application is denied, the applicant may:

    1. Revise the application and resubmit at any time; or
    2. Appeal to the City of Owasso Board of Adjustment

Any application requesting a permit to install a sign with internal or external lighting will be required to purchase an electric permit in addition to the above fee schedule.
