City of Owasso Animal Control:
Animal Adoption
The City of Owasso encourages all of its citizens to consider adopting
an animal from the City of Owasso. Each week the Animal Control
impounds stray animals. These animals need a home. Most
of them never get one. The Animal Control Center impounds
animals ranging from mixed to purebreds. Some of these homeless
animals are the most adorable creatures you have ever laid eyes
on. The procedure is easy, the costs are cheap, and the results
are priceless. So, the City of Owasso says, "Adopt a
pet, adopt a friend."
If you would like to adopt an animal, here are the necessary procedures.
- Any qualified citizen of Owasso may adopt an animal from the
City.
- First contact the Animal Control Center at 272-4965, AnimalShelter@cityofowasso.com,
or call the Owasso Police Department at 272-2244. If you
are unable to reach Animal Control Center, you are encouraged
to call the Police Department and schedule an appointment with
the Animal Control Center.
- Once you have an appointment, you can visit the Animal Control
Facility to view the animals.
- To adopt an animal the animal must be registered, which is a
service provided by the City.
- The cost of adoption is listed on our main page.
No animal will be adopted to a person or persons suspected of not
desiring to maintain the animal. No animal that has bitten
a person will be adopted unless a previous owner exists and desires
to do so.
