Owasso Strong Neighborhoods

"A neighbor is a person who can get to your house in less than a minute and takes two hours to go back home."

Building Relationships Today...

Strengthening Neighborhoods Tomorrow...

Sustaining Community for the Future

Mission Statement:
P
artner with neighborhood stakeholders and provide a means for residents to identify opportunities to maintain and grow the quality of life in our community, so that Owasso is as attractive tomorrow as it is today.

Background & Why we are here:

The primary component of an attractive and vibrant community is “Strong Neighborhoods”.  Look at any dynamic community in the world and the common trait will be the commitment by business, government, and citizens to develop a sound foundation of neighborhoods.  It is critical to all businesses and residents that the investment they have made in the city they “choose” to call home is protected and continues to hold value.  Strong Neighborhoods are the key to the continued momentum of investment by the business community and steady increase in property values for a community’s residents.

Benefits to Strengthening Owasso’s neighborhoods:

  • Build neighborhood networks – get to know your neighbors
  • Increase citizen participation – take ownership in your community – Get Involved
  • Improve quality of life in neighborhoods & community – Make a difference
  • Improve physical condition/appearance of properties in neighborhoods
  • Improve Public Safety – Work with Police, Fire & Emergency Personnel

Plan:

  • Build partnerships with neighborhood groups & encourage citizen input to develop open lines of communication
  • Participate with neighborhood groups to establish Neighborhood Associations and to develop plans for their neighborhood and community; then work on implementation of strategies to accomplish agreed upon plans
  • Assist individuals and neighborhood groups to resolve issues in working through the issues by providing information and recommendations
  • Work with neighborhood groups and make recommendations regarding neighborhood policies, budgets, programs & events
  • Coordinate and be the point of contact between city departments, citizens and other community groups for events such as parades, block parties, etc.
